Overview 
When I joined the Gibco CTS Cellmation Software project, I brought deep, firsthand knowledge of the instruments behind the scenes. Having helped design the original designs for several of these critical systems, I understood not only the technology, but the people who would rely on it to save lives.
At it's core, Cellmation is powered by the DeltaV™ Distributed Control System, providing robust automation for complex bioprocessing. Cell therapy manufacturing demands precision, but the software couldn't feel overwhelming. Operators, engineers, and scientists needed a UI that not only worked with the DeltaV system, but also carried a familiar visual language across different instruments – building trust and minimizing learning curves. 
My role was to design a human-centered interface that would translate that technical power into simple, confident user experiences – helping scientists and operators focus on what truly matters – saving patients lives.​​​​​​​​​​​​​​
Stories like Emily Whitehead’s were never far from my mind. Emily became the first pediatric patient to receive CAR T cell therapy, a revolutionary treatment that reengineered her own immune cells to fight leukemia—saving her life when all other options had failed. It’s breakthroughs like these that Cellmation is designed to accelerate, making cell therapies more accessible, scalable, and reliable.
My Approach
1. Deep User Understanding: Design workflows that mirror real-world GMP lab operations, minimizing errors and cognitive load for users in high-stakes environments.

2. Consistency Across Devices: By building on my experience designing the original instrument UIs, I ensured a seamless visual and interaction language across multiple devices.

3. Clarity and Confidence: I created dashboards that surface critical process insights at a glance, supporting faster, better informed decisions.

4. Seamless DeltaV Integration: I collaborated closely with engineering teams to ensure the UI fit naturally over DeltaV's powerful, flexible automation backbone.
